What Absolute Security does
Absolute Security gives IT teams a connection to their laptops and desktops that is hard to break. Its Persistence technology is built into device firmware at the factory by manufacturers including Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, Panasonic and Getac. It stays dormant until the Absolute agent is installed and first connects; after that, Persistence can repair or reinstall the agent if someone removes or damages it, so a lost, stolen or tampered device keeps reporting in.
On that connection Absolute builds three things: visibility of hardware, software, location and security posture; control to freeze, wipe or geofence devices; and resilience, which watches your other security and management tools and repairs them when they fail. Absolute positions itself as a layer beneath your endpoint protection and device management, not a replacement for them.

Absolute Secure Endpoint is sold in tiers, and each tier includes everything in the one below, so the practical question is which is the lowest edition that solves your problem:
- Visibility if you mainly need an accurate asset register, device location and proof that encryption and anti-malware are running.
- Control if you also need to act on lost or stolen devices: freeze, wipe, delete files or set geofences.
- Resilience if your security and management agents keep failing or being removed, or you want remote recovery of compromised devices.
- Resilience for Security or Resilience for Automation if you also want Absolute to handle patching or automated vulnerability remediation.

What is Absolute Persistence?
Persistence is Absolute's technology embedded in the firmware of supported devices. Once activated, it can reinstall the Absolute agent if it is removed or the device is reimaged, keeping the connection to the console.
Does Absolute work on any laptop?
The agent runs on Windows and macOS devices, and Chromebooks are covered by a separate Absolute package. Persistence, the firmware-level part, needs a device from a manufacturer that builds it in; Absolute names partners including Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, Panasonic, Acer, Asus, Getac and Samsung. We check your devices before you buy.
Is Absolute Security an antivirus?
No. Absolute gives visibility, control and resilience. Its Resilience editions monitor and repair critical apps such as your antivirus, EDR, encryption and device management agents, but you still need an endpoint protection product.
Can we start with Visibility and upgrade later?
Yes. The editions are tiered, so you can move from Visibility to Control or Resilience during the term, and we adjust the subscription on your account.
