Axcient licences: editions, terms and quotes

Business continuity, cloud-to-cloud backup and secure file sync from Axcient's x360 platform, licensed, set up and supported through one Forever Systems account.

Contact us

In short: Axcient is a backup and business continuity vendor whose x360 platform has three products: x360Recover for server, desktop and laptop backup with cloud failover, x360Cloud for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backup, and x360Sync for file sync, share and backup. Axcient sells through managed service providers, so you license and run it through us.

What Axcient does

Axcient builds backup and disaster recovery products for managed service providers (MSPs) rather than selling direct to end users. Its products sit on the x360 platform, which gives the provider one portal for management, monitoring and billing, and stores backups in the Axcient Cloud.

The thinking behind the platform is that a backup only matters if people can get back to work quickly. So Axcient puts the emphasis on recovery: backups that are checked automatically, protected against deletion, and, for x360Recover, able to run as virtual machines in the Axcient Cloud while a failed system is repaired.

Because Axcient sells through providers, UK organisations get it through a provider such as Forever Systems, who licenses it, configures it and looks after it with you.

The Axcient product line-up

ProductWhat it protectsLicensed by
Axcient x360RecoverWindows and Linux servers, Windows and macOS desktops and laptops, virtual machines and servers in public clouds such as Microsoft AzureProtected server or workstation
Axcient x360CloudMicrosoft 365 (Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams) and Google WorkspaceUser
Axcient x360SyncCompany files on PCs, Macs and mobile devices, and on-site file serversUser, with optional extra storage

A common pattern is x360Recover for servers and key PCs, plus x360Cloud so Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace data has an independent copy outside the provider's own cloud. x360Sync suits teams that want a managed alternative to consumer file sharing, or a route for moving an ageing file server into the cloud.

Technology shared across the x360 platform

CapabilityWhat it means for you
AirGapRequests to delete backup data are kept separate from the deletion itself, with a delay in between, so a ransomware attack, a rogue administrator or a simple mistake cannot wipe backups in one step
Pooled storageCloud storage is pooled per product across the account at a flat fee, under Axcient's published Fair Use Policy, rather than tracked mailbox by mailbox or machine by machine
One portalx360Recover, x360Cloud and x360Sync are managed from the same Axcient portal, which keeps monitoring and licence changes in one place

Product-specific features such as AutoVerify, Virtual Office, SmartSearch and Snapshot are covered on each product page. Axcient states that it is SOC 2 certified and that its services can help organisations meet GDPR requirements. We confirm with you where your backup data will be held before you order.

How Axcient is licensed

Axcient licenses each product by what it protects:

  • x360Recover: one licence per protected server or workstation. The licence type depends on how the machine is protected: direct to the Axcient Cloud with no appliance, through an appliance that replicates to the Axcient Cloud, cloud-only, or to a private cloud that you or we host. Legacy storage licences exist for older Replibit-based appliance estates.
  • x360Cloud: one licence per protected user, with storage pooled across your organisation.
  • x360Sync: one licence per user, with an optional extra 1TB cloud storage add-on on a monthly or one-year commitment.

Usage-based licences are billed monthly on what you protect, and use above Axcient's fair use allowances can be charged as an overage. Ask us for a quote and we will confirm the licence types, terms and quantities that fit your estate.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy Axcient directly?

Axcient builds and sells its products for managed service providers rather than end users, so organisations normally get it through a provider such as Forever Systems, who licenses, deploys and supports it for you.

Does Axcient need an on-site appliance?

No. x360Recover Direct-to-Cloud backs up servers and workstations straight to the Axcient Cloud with no appliance, and x360Cloud and x360Sync are cloud services. Appliance-based and private cloud deployments are also available where fast local recovery matters.

Where does Axcient store backup data?

In the Axcient Cloud, unless you choose an x360Recover private cloud deployment that keeps backups in infrastructure you or we host. We confirm the storage location for your account with you before you order.

How much does Axcient cost?

It depends on how many servers, workstations and users you protect, and on how they are protected. Ask us for a quote and we will price the right combination of products.

Does Axcient back up Microsoft 365?

Yes. Axcient x360Cloud backs up Exchange Online mail, calendars and contacts, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams, and it can protect Google Workspace too.
