In short: Lookout is a mobile security vendor whose platform protects iOS, Android and ChromeOS devices against phishing, smishing, malicious apps, device compromise and network attacks. Forever Systems supplies Lookout Essentials and Lookout Advanced, licensed per device on a month-to-month or 12-month term, and deploys them alongside your existing mobile device management.
What Lookout does
Lookout is a security company that specialises in mobile devices. Its core product, now marketed as Lookout Mobile AI Security and previously as Lookout Mobile Endpoint Security, runs as an app on iOS, Android and ChromeOS devices and looks for the threats that traditional endpoint protection and email security miss on phones.
The reason it exists is a gap most organisations already have. Mobile device management (MDM) tools such as Microsoft Intune configure and control devices, but they do not detect active threats, and desktop EDR agents do not run on iOS or Android. Meanwhile staff read email, approve MFA prompts and open links in text messages on the same phone. Lookout fills that gap and feeds device risk back to your MDM, so a compromised phone can be blocked from company data automatically.
Lookout's platform also includes modules beyond core mobile protection, such as Social Engineering Protection, AI Visibility and Governance, and an Advanced SOC module for mobile threat hunting. Most organisations start with Essentials or Advanced and add modules later if they need them; ask us and we will scope those separately.
The Lookout editions we supply
We supply Lookout's mobile protection in two editions. Both cover the same four kinds of mobile threat: phishing and malicious content, risky apps, device compromise and network attacks.
| Edition | In one line | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Lookout Essentials | Threat detection and blocking across the four threat types, with phishing protection, web content filtering, MDM and SIEM integration | Organisations that want company and BYOD phones protected and monitored |
| Lookout Advanced | Everything in Essentials, plus app risk analysis, behaviour-based app allow and deny lists, app and OS vulnerability management and Secure DNS | Regulated organisations, or anyone who needs to enforce app and patch compliance across a mobile fleet |
The full feature-by-feature comparison, deployment steps and Cyber Essentials notes are on our Lookout Mobile Endpoint Security page.
How Lookout is licensed
Lookout is licensed per device. Each protected phone, tablet or Chromebook needs a licence, whether it is company-owned or a personal device used for work. Users with both a work phone and a tablet need two licences, so count devices rather than people when you plan numbers.
| Term | How it works |
|---|---|
| Month to month | Rolling monthly subscription, so you can change numbers as devices come and go |
| Annual | 12-month commitment for the licensed quantity |
We keep the licensed quantity in line with the number of devices actually protected and review it with you, so tell us when devices are retired or new ones arrive. A trial can be arranged before you commit.
Prices depend on the edition, term and number of devices, so ask us for a quote. See monthly vs annual licences for the trade-offs between terms and per-user vs per-device licensing for how to count.
BYOD and privacy
Lookout is managed from a cloud console and installed as an app. On managed devices it is pushed out through your MDM, and Lookout describes activation as zero-touch, so staff do not need to sign up for anything. On personal devices staff install the app themselves.
For BYOD, privacy matters as much as protection. Lookout states that its approach is non-invasive and does not use or share personal information, and it offers a privacy mode for service providers managing customers' devices. When the app detects a problem it tells the user what has happened and how to fix it, so most issues are resolved without a support ticket. That combination is usually what makes staff willing to install a security app on their own phone.
Buying Lookout through Forever Systems
We supply Lookout on your Forever Systems account with your other software, set up the console, connect it to your MDM, agree policies and roll the app out. Lookout's console is built for service providers to manage several organisations, so we can also watch the alerts and act on them for you rather than leaving them in an inbox.

Contact usFrequently asked questions
Is Lookout licensed per user or per device?
Per device. Each protected phone, tablet or Chromebook needs a licence, whether it is company-owned or a personal device used for work.
Why do we need mobile threat defence if we already have Intune?
Intune and other MDM tools manage device settings and apps, but they do not detect phishing, malicious apps or network attacks on the device. Lookout detects those threats and passes the device's risk level to Intune, which can then block a compromised device from company data.
Can Lookout protect personal phones (BYOD)?
Yes. Lookout protects both managed and unmanaged devices, and states that its approach does not use or share personal information, which makes it easier for staff to accept on their own phones.
Is there a minimum term for Lookout?
No minimum beyond a month if you choose month to month. Both editions are also available on a 12-month commitment. We confirm the options when we quote.
