What Exium does
Exium builds a single security platform aimed at small and mid-sized organisations that do not want to stitch together a VPN, a web filter, a firewall, a SIEM and an identity tool from five different suppliers. One management console covers secure internet access, zero trust access to private applications, detection and response, and identity, while the Cyber Gateway replaces traditional firewalls at offices, data centres and cloud networks.
The platform is designed to be run by a managed service provider, which is how we supply it: we deploy and operate Exium for you rather than handing you another console to learn. Exium is now part of NETGEAR, which completed its acquisition in 2025 and says it will combine Exium's cloud-native SASE platform with its own networking products for small and medium-sized businesses. The Exium products below remain available and we will keep this page up to date as names or packaging change.

Most organisations start with SASE, then add the Cyber Gateway where they still have an office firewall to replace and XDR360 where they need monitoring and log retention. Exium also lists a 24/7 MDR/SOC service and GRC360 compliance management on its price list, and there is an Exium for Enterprise option for larger organisations; ask us about availability.
How Exium is licensed
Exium uses straightforward subscription licensing, and each module is priced separately so you pay only for what you use:
- Per user for SASE and IAM360. Exium states that a SASE user licence covers up to five devices, so a laptop, a phone and a tablet do not each need their own licence.
- Per site for the Cyber Gateway, with high availability included at no extra cost, according to Exium's published model.
- Per user or per asset for XDR360, with the log retention period (7, 30, 90 days or one year) chosen as part of the subscription.
- Monthly billing on your Forever Systems invoice; Exium states there are no contracts and no upfront fees.

Is Exium licensed per user or per device?
SASE, XDR360 and IAM360 are licensed per user, and Exium states that a SASE user licence covers up to five devices. The Cyber Gateway is licensed per site, and XDR360 can also be licensed per asset.
Can I buy Exium monthly?
Yes. We supply Exium on monthly billing through your Forever Systems account, and you can add or remove users and modules as you need.
Does Exium replace our VPN?
Exium SASE provides zero trust access to private applications, which is the usual replacement for a remote access VPN. Users get access to specific applications rather than the whole network.
What happened to Exium after the NETGEAR acquisition?
NETGEAR completed its acquisition of Exium in 2025 and says it will combine Exium's SASE technology with its networking products for small and medium-sized businesses. The Exium products described here remain available; we will tell existing customers about any changes to names or packaging.
Do we need new hardware for the Cyber Gateway?
Not necessarily. The Cyber Gateway is software that runs on a virtual machine, in Azure, AWS or Google Cloud, or on general-purpose hardware at your site.
