In short: Echoworx is a specialist email encryption provider. Its cloud service encrypts sensitive messages automatically by policy and delivers them by TLS, secure web portal, encrypted PDF or attachment, or S/MIME and PGP. Forever Systems supplies the Standard and Advanced editions per user, on monthly or annual terms, and sets them up.
What Echoworx does
Echoworx specialises in one thing: encrypted email. Its cloud encryption platform, long sold under the OneWorld name, sits alongside your existing email system and makes sure messages containing sensitive information do not reach a recipient unprotected, while keeping things simple for the person on the other end.
Encryption can be triggered automatically, for example when your data loss prevention tool or email gateway flags a message, or by a sender choosing to encrypt from Outlook or Gmail. Echoworx then delivers the message in a way that suits the recipient, from an ordinary TLS-protected email through to a branded secure portal or certificate-based encryption. Recipients do not need special software.
Echoworx is aimed at organisations with regulatory or contractual duties to protect what they send, such as financial services, legal, healthcare and the public sector, and it positions the platform as helping with frameworks such as DORA, NIS 2 and PCI DSS.
Echoworx editions we supply
We supply Echoworx Email Encryption in two editions, both licensed per user:
- Standard: secure web portal and TLS delivery, rule-based encryption policies and inbound secure messaging through the portal
- Advanced: everything in Standard plus encrypted PDF, encrypted attachments and S/MIME or PGP certificate encryption
Portal branding with your name, logo and a company-specific web address is available as a separate one-off set-up item for either edition. See Echoworx Email Encryption for the full edition comparison, how each delivery method works for recipients and how deployment fits with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
How Echoworx is licensed
Echoworx Email Encryption is licensed per user, meaning each member of staff who sends encrypted email. Recipients do not need a licence.
- Monthly or annual: both editions are available on monthly or annual terms through Forever Systems
- Minimum users: Echoworx sets a minimum number of users for these editions, which we confirm on your quote
- Branding: portal branding is ordered separately and is far simpler to set up at the same time as the encryption service than to add later
Prices depend on the edition, user numbers and term, so ask us for a quote. Our guide to monthly vs annual licences explains the trade-offs.
Security, UK hosting and compliance
Echoworx is a managed cloud service, with no appliance for you to maintain. Points UK buyers usually ask about:
- Data centres: Echoworx runs data centres in the UK, the US, Canada, Ireland and Germany, which helps with UK GDPR and client contracts that require UK data residency
- Audits: Echoworx states that it has an annual independent SOC 2 audit, and that its encrypted mail and secure portal meet PCI DSS Level 1
- UK financial services: Echoworx is FSQS registered, the supplier qualification scheme used by financial institutions in the UK, Ireland and Northern Europe
- Cryptography: AES-256 and RSA 2048-bit encryption, with keys protected in hardware security modules validated to FIPS 140-3 Level 3 and integration with AWS Key Management Service
Email encryption is one part of a wider email security picture. For filtering inbound threats, see email security, and for domain spoofing protection see DMARC and email authentication.

Contact usFrequently asked questions
Do recipients need Echoworx to read an encrypted email?
No. Depending on the method, the message arrives over TLS, as a protected PDF or attachment, or via a notification linking to a secure web portal that works in a browser, including on mobile.
Is Echoworx the same as OneWorld?
OneWorld is the name Echoworx has long used for its email encryption platform, and you may still see it on licence and product descriptions. Echoworx Email Encryption Standard and Advanced run on that platform.
Can Echoworx host our data in the UK?
Echoworx runs data centres in the UK as well as the US, Canada, Ireland and Germany. We confirm the hosting region with you before the service is set up.
Is Echoworx licensed per sender or per mailbox?
Per user, meaning each member of staff who sends encrypted email. Recipients do not need a licence, and a minimum user count applies.
Does Echoworx replace our email filtering?
No. Echoworx encrypts sensitive mail on the way out and works alongside your existing email security; it is designed so that inbound hygiene, filtering and archiving stay as they are.
