Sandbox seeding is useful in its own right. Developers and admins can fill a sandbox with realistic data from a backup, with sensitive fields masked, rather than testing against empty or copied production data.
How it is licensed
The service is licensed per user. Because Commvault includes unlimited storage and retention, you do not need to estimate data growth or buy storage separately for Salesforce backup, which makes the cost easier to forecast than capacity-based products.

Requirements and deployment
The service is SaaS, so there is nothing to install. You authorise Commvault Cloud to connect to each Salesforce org and sandbox through Salesforce's APIs, choose a data region and set a backup plan. Commvault's documentation lists a United Kingdom region for Salesforce workloads, so backup copies can stay in the UK.
Check that your Salesforce edition is one Commvault supports (Lightning Developer, Performance, Enterprise or Unlimited) and that the integration user has the permissions Commvault needs. We handle this during set-up.
