In short: Domotz network monitoring is a cloud platform that discovers, maps and monitors the devices on your networks through a collector at each site. It includes SNMP and service monitoring, alerts, remote access, power cycling, configuration backup and security scans, with no feature tiers. Collectors run on Windows, Linux, NAS, virtual machines or a Domotz box.
What Domotz network monitoring is
Domotz network monitoring is the core platform from Domotz. It replaces the patchwork many IT teams rely on (a spreadsheet of IP addresses, a ping tool, the switch's own web page and a phone call from a branch when something stops working) with one cloud console covering every site.
Each site runs a collector. The collector discovers devices on the local network using layer 2 and layer 3 techniques, identifies them, and monitors the ones you select. Results appear in the Domotz web app and the iOS and Android apps. Remote connections to devices are made through the Domotz platform, so you do not need a separate VPN into each site to reach a switch or access point.
What is included
Domotz does not sell feature tiers, so every licence includes the full platform:
| Area | What you get |
|---|---|
| Discovery | Automatic discovery of every connected device, identification by make, model and type, new-device alerts |
| Topology | Network maps plotted automatically, showing how switches, access points and endpoints connect |
| Monitoring | Availability and response time, SNMP v1, v2 and v3 values with thresholds, TCP service checks (HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, Telnet), switch port status, traffic, packets and errors with history |
| Servers and services | Workstation and server details such as operating system and disks, certificate validity and server status |
| Remote access | One-click connections to device consoles and web interfaces, and VPN on Demand to reach several devices on a remote network |
| Power management | Remote power cycling through managed switch ports, smart plugs, PDUs and UPS units |
| Configuration management | Backup and restore of switch, firewall and access point configurations |
| Security | Perimeter monitoring for open ports, vulnerability scans, intruder detection and new-device alerts |
| Automation | Custom drivers written in JavaScript that collect extra data over protocols such as SSH, WinRM, SNMP and HTTP, plus webhooks, a public API and an MCP server for AI assistants |
| Integrations | Alerts to Microsoft Teams and Slack; PSA and ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, HaloPSA, ConnectWise PSA and Datto Autotask |
| Reporting | Network reports, branded reports and audit logs |
Role-based team management, single sign-on (SAML) and two-factor authentication control who can view and who can take remote actions.
How it is licensed
Through Forever Systems, Domotz is licensed by managed device:
| Option | Detail |
|---|---|
| Managed device licence | One device you actively monitor and manage |
| Term | Annual commitment, billed monthly on your Forever Systems invoice |
| Discovery | Included for everything on the network, so you can see devices before deciding what to monitor |
| Collectors | One per network or site, as many as you need |
| Trial | Available before you commit |
You do not need to license every discovered device: printers in one office may not need active monitoring, while core switches, firewalls and access points almost certainly do. We help you decide where to draw the line. Domotz's own published plans count per collector instead; if that would suit you better, ask and we will check the options. Prices depend on device count and term, so ask us for a quote. See per-user vs per-device licensing for background.
Requirements and deployment
The collector runs on a wide range of platforms, so most sites can use hardware they already have:
- Windows: Domotz lists Windows 10 and 11 and Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2025 as tested
- Linux: Ubuntu and Debian
- NAS and virtualisation: Synology, QNAP and ReadyNAS; VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, Proxmox, VirtualBox and Docker
- Small devices: Raspberry Pi and OpenWrt routers, or a dedicated Domotz box
The collector actively scans the network, so Domotz advises against installing it on hosts running critical services such as domain controllers, DHCP or DNS servers, and recommends adding the collector to the allow list of your endpoint protection before the first scan. On Windows it can be installed silently for scripted roll-out. Installing a collector is quick; tuning which devices to monitor and how alerts are routed takes longer, and is where we spend our time with you.
Who it suits and how we help
Domotz network monitoring suits organisations with an in-house IT function and more than one network to look after: branch offices, schools and trusts, warehouses, surgeries and hotels. It is equally useful for a single busy site with a lot of connected equipment such as cameras, door controllers and AV kit.
Forever Systems scopes the estate, deploys the collectors, sets alert thresholds and integrations (for example to a Microsoft Teams channel or your service desk), and manages the licence count. If you are also reviewing the network itself, Forever Group designs and supports Cisco networking, and our firewalls and network security guide covers the security layer.
How Forever Systems supplies your software licences
Forever Systems Ltd supplies business software subscriptions to UK organisations from one account, with one monthly invoice and a UK team who know the products.
- The right edition first time: we check what you need before you buy, so you are not paying for features you will never use
- Monthly or annual terms where the vendor offers them, and help timing renewals and commitments
- Licence changes handled for you: add or remove users, upgrade editions and true-up without starting a new contract
- Deployment and support from engineers who run these products every day, not just a reseller account
- Consolidated billing and renewal reminders so nothing lapses unexpectedly
We work with businesses, schools, charities and public sector organisations of all sizes.

Contact usFrequently asked questions
Does Domotz need an on-site server?
No. The collector is lightweight software that can run on an existing PC, server, NAS, virtual machine or Raspberry Pi, or on a Domotz box. All data and the console are in the Domotz cloud.
Can Domotz monitor switches and firewalls from any vendor?
Domotz monitors any IP-reachable device and uses SNMP for detailed metrics, so it works with most managed switches, firewalls and access points. Configuration backup and power control depend on the device, and we check your equipment when scoping.
Do I have to license every device Domotz discovers?
No. Discovery covers everything on the network, and you choose which devices to monitor and manage. Only those count as managed devices.
Is Domotz secure?
Domotz states that it holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications, and it supports single sign-on, two-factor authentication and role-based control over who can view and act on devices.
