In short: Zero Networks Connect is the secure remote access product in the Zero Networks platform. It hides your remote access gateway behind closed ports, requires MFA before opening a connection for the authenticated user only, and limits access to approved applications. It uses a lightweight WireGuard-based client. Forever Systems licenses it per Connect licence, billed monthly.
What Zero Networks Connect is
Internet-facing VPN gateways are one of the most attacked parts of any network. They have to listen for connections from anywhere, so every vulnerability in them is exposed, and once a user is connected a traditional VPN often gives broad access to the internal network. Zero Networks Connect, listed on Zero Networks' website as Secure Remote Access, takes a different approach.
With Connect, the remote access service has no open ports on the internet, so it cannot be found by scanning. A user must complete multi-factor authentication first; only then does a port open, accepting traffic only from that authenticated user's IP address and only for a set time. Access can be limited to all applications or to a pre-approved list, and because it is part of the Zero Networks platform, remote users are subject to the same segmentation rules as everyone else.
Key capabilities
| Capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| No exposed ports | The remote access service is invisible to internet scanning |
| MFA before connection | Users authenticate before any port opens |
| User-specific, time-limited access | The port accepts traffic only from the authenticated user's IP address, for a set period |
| Application-level policy | Allow all applications or a pre-approved list per user or group |
| Preserved user IP addresses | Unlike many ZTNA services, users keep identifiable IP addresses, so policies and detection tools can see who is who |
| Lightweight client | Built on WireGuard and self-updating |
| Third-party access | Restrict supplier and contractor connections and apply MFA and segmentation to them |
Zero Networks positions Connect as combining VPN-like performance with zero trust controls.
How Zero Networks Connect is licensed
Connect is licensed per Connect licence, sized to the people who need remote access, including any suppliers or contractors you want to bring under control.
| Option | Licensing unit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Zero Networks Connect | Per licence | Remote access for staff and third parties |
It is billed monthly on your Forever Systems invoice and can be bought on its own or alongside Network Segmentation and Identity Segmentation. We confirm exactly how licences are counted for your user mix when we quote, so ask us for a quote.
Requirements and deployment
Users install the lightweight Connect client, which updates itself. MFA is delivered through your identity provider, so staff sign in the way they already do. We plan the change from your current VPN with you:
- Review who uses remote access today and what they connect to.
- Define access policies by group, including restricted policies for suppliers.
- Pilot Connect with a small group, then roll it out in waves.
- Retire the old VPN and close its internet-facing ports.
We check supported client platforms and identity provider options against Zero Networks' current documentation as part of scoping.
Who it suits and how we help
Connect suits organisations that want to retire an exposed VPN appliance, need to control supplier and contractor access tightly, or already use Zero Networks segmentation and want remote users under the same policy. It is especially relevant where cyber insurers are asking about MFA on remote access.
We plan and deploy Connect, migrate users from your current VPN and handle licence changes as people join and leave. Compare other approaches in SASE, ZTNA and business VPN, such as Timus Networks SASE, or see secure remote access tools like TruGrid SecureRDP. Go back to the Zero Networks overview.
