What GravityZone Patch Management is
Unpatched software is one of the commonest ways attackers get in, and it is also one of the easiest gaps to close if updates are tracked properly. GravityZone Patch Management is an optional module for GravityZone Cloud MSP Security. It uses the Bitdefender agent already on each device, so there is no separate patching tool to buy, install or monitor, and the patch status of every device sits next to its security status in one console.
Bitdefender also builds patching into GravityZone EDR, because closing known vulnerabilities is part of reducing the attack surface that EDR has to watch.

How it is licensed
Patch Management is licensed per endpoint it is enabled on, on top of your GravityZone base licence, and billed monthly through your Forever Systems account. You can enable it everywhere or only on groups of devices, for example leaving servers that are patched by a separate change process out of scope. Prices depend on the number of endpoints, so ask us for a quote.
Patching and Cyber Essentials
The Cyber Essentials security update management control expects high and critical security updates to be installed within 14 days of release, on every in-scope device, for operating systems and applications alike. Third-party applications are where many organisations fall short, because Windows Update does not cover them. A patch report from GravityZone, showing what is installed and what is outstanding, is useful evidence when you prepare for assessment, and it helps you spot unsupported software that must be removed or replaced.
Requirements and deployment
Patch Management needs the Bitdefender agent with the module enabled. We deploy it in stages:
- Scan only, and review the missing patch report with you.
- Agree when patches should install and how restarts are handled, so users are not disrupted.
- Turn on automatic installation for critical security updates, then widen to other categories.
- Review failed installs and problem patches each month.
