In short: NordPass is Nord Security's business password manager. It stores logins, payment cards and other data in an encrypted vault protected by a master password, with secure sharing, company password policies, Password Health checks, an activity log and data breach alerts. It is sold as NordPass Business or NordPass Enterprise and licensed per user.
What NordPass is
NordPass gives every member of staff an encrypted vault for passwords, payment cards and personal details, and gives IT an admin panel to control how those credentials are created, shared and removed. It prompts to save logins and fills them in automatically, generates strong passwords, syncs across desktop, mobile and browser, and keeps the vault available offline.
Vault data is encrypted with XChaCha20 and protected by a master password, which is used to encrypt your data. NordPass shows ISO 27001 and SOC 2 among its compliance credentials. the practical benefit is an audit trail: when an insurer, auditor or customer asks how shared logins are controlled and revoked, you can show policies and activity logs rather than a spreadsheet.
What administrators control
The admin side is what separates a business password manager from a personal one. With NordPass, administrators can:
- Set company-wide password policies so new credentials meet your rules
- Decide who can autofill, view, edit and share each credential, with roles and permissions
- Share credentials securely instead of sending them in chat or email, and monitor shared items through the Sharing Hub
- Review the activity log to see what users have done in the vault
- Enforce multi-factor authentication for vault access
- Check Password Health, which flags weak, old, reused and compromised passwords
- Receive Data Breach Scanner alerts when company data appears in breaches or on the dark web
- Onboard and offboard quickly, granting new starters access straight away and revoking or transferring a leaver's access
Which of these, and which single sign-on and provisioning options, come with each plan changes from time to time, so we check the current NordPass plan sheet against your requirements before you order.
How NordPass is licensed
NordPass is licensed per user: each person with a vault needs a licence on either NordPass Business or NordPass Enterprise. The licence follows the person, so staff can use NordPass on their laptop, phone and browser without extra seats.
Choosing between the two plans usually comes down to identity and scale. If you want staff to sign in with your existing identity provider, or vaults to be created and removed automatically as people join and leave, tell us which provider you use and we will confirm which plan supports it. If you need breach monitoring across several company domains, or wider admin oversight of shared credentials, that also points towards Enterprise. Through Forever Systems we confirm the term on your quote, add users when you grow and move you from Business to Enterprise if your needs change. Prices depend on plan, quantity and term, so ask us for a quote. For background, see per-user vs per-device licensing.
Requirements and deployment
NordPass runs as desktop apps, mobile apps and browser extensions, so users can reach their vault on the devices they already use. Administrators work in the web-based admin panel to invite users, create groups and shared folders, set password policies and review the activity log.
A typical rollout:
- Agree who administers the account and how users will sign in.
- Invite users in batches, starting with IT and the teams that share the most logins.
- Build shared folders for each team, then help staff move existing browser passwords into their vaults.
- Set password policies, turn on MFA, add your domain to the Data Breach Scanner and review Password Health reports.
If you also use NordLayer, you can restrict vault access to your NordLayer-secured network, so the vault can only be reached from your allowlisted business IP addresses.
Who NordPass suits and how we help
NordPass suits small and mid-sized organisations that want a straightforward password manager staff will actually use, with enough admin control to satisfy auditors. It is a good fit where logins are currently shared in spreadsheets, chat messages or browser profiles, and where leavers' access needs to be removed quickly. Compare it with other password managers we supply, such as Keeper Security.
Forever Systems helps you choose between Business and Enterprise, plan the migration from your current tool and train administrators, then handles seats and renewals on one account. Password managers work best alongside multi-factor authentication and staff training, so it is worth reviewing those at the same time.

Contact usFrequently asked questions
Is NordPass licensed per user or per device?
Per user. Each person with a vault needs a NordPass Business or Enterprise licence, and that licence covers the apps and browser extensions they use across their devices.
Which NordPass plan do we need, Business or Enterprise?
It depends mainly on how you want users to sign in and be provisioned, how many company domains you want breach monitoring for and how much oversight you need of shared credentials. Tell us your identity provider and team size and we will confirm the right plan against the current NordPass plan sheet.
Can Nord Security see our passwords?
NordPass encrypts vault data with XChaCha20 and protects it with a master password that you set, which is used to encrypt the data. That design is intended to keep vault contents readable only by the user.
Can we limit NordPass to our office or VPN network?
Yes, if you also use NordLayer. NordPass can restrict vault access to your NordLayer-secured network, so the vault is only reachable from your allowlisted business IP addresses.
