In short: Axcient x360Recover is image-based backup and disaster recovery for Windows and Linux servers, Windows and macOS PCs, and servers in public clouds such as Azure. Backups are chain-free, checked automatically by AutoVerify and protected by AirGap, and failed systems can run in the Axcient Cloud. It is licensed per protected server or workstation.
What x360Recover is
x360Recover is Axcient's business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) product. It takes image-based backups of whole machines, so you can restore a single file or folder, rebuild a full system on new hardware, or boot the backup as a virtual machine while the original is fixed.
It comes in several deployment styles. Direct-to-Cloud (D2C) installs an agent that sends backups straight to the Axcient Cloud with no appliance. Appliance-based deployments keep a local copy on an on-site device, either Axcient hardware or your own, for fast recovery and replicate to the Axcient Cloud or another destination. Private cloud deployments keep backups in infrastructure you or we host. x360Recover D2C for Microsoft Azure protects Windows servers and desktops running in Azure, including Azure file shares.
Key capabilities
| Capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Chain-free backup | Each snapshot is independent and recoverable, so there is no backup chain to manage or periodically reseed, and one bad snapshot does not affect the rest |
| AutoVerify | Automatically checks that backups can be recovered, without manual test restores |
| AirGap | Separates deletion requests from deletion, so backups survive a ransomware attack or a malicious administrator |
| Virtual Office | Runs failed systems as virtual machines in the Axcient Cloud, with client-specific runbooks, so staff can keep working during an outage or you can rehearse a recovery |
| Local Cache | Optional local copy for D2C systems on a USB drive or NAS, to speed up large file and bare-metal restores |
| Pooled storage | Cloud storage is pooled across the account at a flat fee under Axcient's Fair Use Policy |
Axcient lists support for Windows, Linux and macOS, VMware virtual machines, and servers in public clouds including Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud. Its Geo+ option for a second, geographically separate copy is offered in the United States only. We check your operating systems against Axcient's compatibility information before deployment.
x360Recover licence options
x360Recover is licensed per protected machine, with separate server and workstation licences. The licence type follows where the backups live:
| Licence | What it covers |
|---|---|
| D2C Server or Workstation | A server, desktop or laptop backed up directly to the Axcient Cloud, with no appliance; workstation licences suit remote staff |
| Server or Workstation with Cloud | A machine protected through an on-site appliance, with backups replicated to the Axcient Cloud |
| Cloud-only Server or Workstation | A machine whose backups are held in the Axcient Cloud only |
| Private Cloud Server or Workstation | A machine backed up to a private cloud or data centre you or we host, rather than the Axcient Cloud |
| Fair use overage | Charged where cloud storage, Virtual Office use or data exports go beyond Axcient's fair use allowances |
| Legacy appliance storage | Storage licences on three-year or ten-year terms for existing Replibit-based appliance estates |
Billing is monthly, based on the number of protected machines. Ask us for a quote and we will confirm the licence types and quantities for your estate.
Requirements and deployment
D2C needs only the Axcient agent on each machine. It can be pushed out silently through a remote monitoring and management tool and starts backing up without a server reboot. Existing backup products do not have to be removed first, so x360Recover can run alongside an old system during a migration and the old agents can be removed once the new backups are proven.
For sites with large servers or slow internet links, an appliance or the optional Local Cache keeps a local copy so big restores do not depend on downloading everything from the cloud. We look at your data volumes and connection speeds and recommend the right design before you order.
Who x360Recover suits and how we help
x360Recover suits organisations that run their own servers, on site or in Azure, and need to recover quickly from hardware failure, ransomware or a site outage. D2C workstation licences also suit businesses with laptops that rarely come back to the office.
We size the deployment, install agents, set backup schedules and retention, and run a recovery test with you. After that we watch verification results and backup alerts, and handle licence changes as machines are added or retired. If you also use Microsoft 365, add Axcient x360Cloud for an independent copy of mail and files.

Contact usFrequently asked questions
Do I need an appliance for x360Recover?
No. Direct-to-Cloud licences back up servers and workstations straight to the Axcient Cloud. An appliance, or the optional Local Cache on a USB drive or NAS, adds a local copy for faster large restores.
Can x360Recover run my servers in the cloud if they fail?
Yes. Virtual Office boots protected systems as virtual machines in the Axcient Cloud so staff can keep working while your own hardware is repaired. Virtual Office use is covered by Axcient's fair use allowances.
Does x360Recover protect servers in Microsoft Azure?
Yes. x360Recover D2C for Microsoft Azure backs up Windows servers and desktops running in Azure, including Azure file shares, and can restore a recovery point back to Azure as a native virtual machine.
Does x360Recover back up Macs?
Yes. Axcient provides an x360Recover agent for macOS desktops alongside its Windows and Linux agents.
How is x360Recover licensed?
Per protected server or workstation, billed monthly. The licence type depends on whether backups go direct to the Axcient Cloud, through an appliance, cloud-only or to a private cloud. Ask us for a quote.
