In short: Perception Point, now part of Fortinet and sold as FortiMail Workspace Security, protects email, web browsers and collaboration apps such as Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive. Each module is licensed per user, alone or in bundles, and every subscription includes a fully managed 24/7 incident response service. Ask us for a quote.
What Perception Point does
Perception Point is an email and workspace security platform built to stop phishing, business email compromise (BEC), account takeover and zero-day malware before people interact with them. Rather than relying mainly on signatures, it scans every file and URL dynamically, unpacks content recursively to defeat evasion tricks and uses a CPU-level sandbox to catch exploits early in an attack.
Perception Point is now owned by Fortinet. The product line appears on Fortinet's website as FortiMail Workspace Security (formerly Perception Point), and the email component is marketed as FortiMail Cloud SaaS. Many licence catalogues, including ours, still list the products under the Perception Point name, so you will see both names in quotes and documentation. The platform, console and managed service are the same.
What sets Perception Point apart for smaller IT teams is that a fully managed, 24/7 incident response service is included with every module. Its analysts review incidents, tune policies, handle false positives and help with remediation, acting as an extension of your own team or your IT provider.
The Perception Point product line-up
Perception Point is modular. Each module can be licensed on its own or combined in a bundle, and everything is managed from one cloud console.
| Product | What it protects | Licensed by |
|---|---|---|
| Advanced Email Security | Inbound and internal email for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and other mail services | User |
| Advanced Browser Security | Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and other browsers via a lightweight extension | User |
| Microsoft Collaboration Security | Files and links in SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams | User |
Fortinet also offers collaboration protection for other apps, such as Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, Slack, Salesforce and Zendesk, each licensed per user per application. If you need one of those, ask us and we will check availability.
How Perception Point licensing works
Every module is licensed per user. For email, Fortinet bases billing on the number of active mailboxes the organisation declares, and it validates that count. Collaboration protection is priced per user for each application you protect; the Microsoft subscription covers SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams together.
The bundles we supply are:
| Bundle | Browser | Microsoft collaboration | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Advanced Email Security | Yes | No | No |
| Advanced Browser Security | No | Yes | No |
| Microsoft Collaboration Security | No | No | Yes |
| Email and Browser Security | Yes | Yes | No |
| Email and Microsoft Collaboration Security | Yes | No | Yes |
| Email, Browser and Microsoft Collaboration Security | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Bundles keep the user count, console and renewal date aligned, and combining email with the browser extension lets the platform correlate evidence across both channels. Fortinet's published user tiers start at 25 users; we confirm the minimum and term options for your order when we quote. Prices depend on the bundle and user count, so ask us for a quote.
Deployment and requirements
Perception Point is cloud delivered, so there is no hardware to install.
- Email: connects to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. For Microsoft 365 there is an inline method, which scans mail before it is delivered, and a Microsoft Graph API method, which scans in parallel with delivery and removes threats afterwards. Neither requires you to move your MX records.
- Browser: a lightweight extension for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and other Chromium browsers on Windows, macOS, ChromeOS and Linux, deployed silently through Microsoft Intune, Jamf Pro, JumpCloud or Google Workspace, by script, or by email invitation for contractors.
- Collaboration: connected to Microsoft 365 by API, with no change for users.
Fortinet lists SOC 2, ISO 27001 and GDPR among the platform's compliance credentials, which helps with UK GDPR due diligence.
Buying Perception Point through Forever Systems
We supply Perception Point alongside the rest of your security and productivity subscriptions, on one account and one invoice.
- Scope: we look at your mail platform, browsers and Microsoft 365 use and recommend a module or bundle.
- Set up: we connect your tenant, choose the right email connection method and plan the browser extension roll-out.
- Run: Perception Point's incident response team handles detections around the clock, and we stay your point of contact for licences, changes and renewals.
Adding users, moving to a larger bundle or adding collaboration protection is a licence change, not a new project. Compare other options in email security and secure enterprise browsers, or browse all vendors on our vendors A to Z.

Contact usFrequently asked questions
Is Perception Point now Fortinet?
Yes. Fortinet acquired Perception Point and now markets the platform as FortiMail Workspace Security (formerly Perception Point). Licences are still widely listed under the Perception Point name, and the platform and managed service are the same.
How is Perception Point licensed?
Per user. Email is billed on the number of active mailboxes you declare, collaboration protection is per user for each application, and bundles combine email, browser and Microsoft collaboration protection under one user count.
Is incident response really included?
Yes. Every Perception Point module includes a fully managed 24/7 incident response service that investigates incidents, tunes policies, handles false positives and helps remediate threats.
Does Perception Point replace Microsoft Defender for Office 365?
It is designed to work alongside Microsoft 365's built-in protection as an extra layer, connected inline or by API. Whether you also keep Defender for Office 365 depends on your Microsoft licences, which Forever Group's Microsoft licensing team can review.
Do I need to change my MX records?
No. Perception Point connects to Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace without moving your MX records, using either an inline connection or an API connection.
