The step to Business Plus is about compliance and device control rather than collaboration. If you need to retain email for a set period, put legal holds on accounts or wipe lost phones remotely, look at Plus.
How Business Standard is licensed
Business Standard is licensed per user, for 1 to 300 users. On Google's Flexible Plan you pay monthly and can add or remove users whenever you like. On the Annual/Fixed-Term Plan you commit for a year at a lower per-user cost; you can add users at any time, but the licence count can only come down at renewal.
Leavers can be moved to a Business Standard Archived User licence, which keeps their mail and files in your account at lower cost and frees the active seat. Edition prices depend on the plan and quantity, so ask us for a quote and we will show both plans side by side.
Who Business Standard suits
Business Standard suits teams that run client meetings on Meet and want them recorded, share large files, send contracts for signature, or let customers book appointments online. With 2TB pooled per user, storage is far less likely to become a constraint than on Business Starter.
It is not the right choice if you are regulated and must retain or search email and chat for disputes or audits, because Google Vault is not included. Organisations with retention duties, for example in financial services, legal or healthcare, should look at Business Plus or an Enterprise edition.
