Why back up Google Workspace
Google keeps Workspace available, but it does not keep your deleted or overwritten data indefinitely. An independent backup keeps copies outside your Google tenant, on retention you control.

New users and shared drives are detected automatically and added to the backup plan, so starters are protected without anyone remembering to add them. Data is encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest with AES-256.
How it is licensed
Acronis Backup for Google Workspace is licensed per Google Workspace seat, and the licence includes unlimited cloud storage, so you do not have to forecast how much mail and Drive data each user will accumulate. Acronis lists its own cloud, Google and Microsoft as storage locations for these backups, which helps if you want backups held with a different provider from your production data.
Through Forever Systems it is billed monthly on the number of protected users. Because the bill follows your user count, removing a leaver reduces it the following month while their backup stays available under your retention policy.

Search, recovery and requirements
You can search backups to find a specific email or file before you recover it, then restore a single message, file or folder, or a user's whole Gmail or Drive, to a chosen point in time. You can also download files and attachments directly from the backup, or send an email from it, which is useful when someone needs one document urgently.
Connecting the service needs a Google Workspace administrator to authorise the Acronis application once. We set the storage location to meet your data residency requirements when we create your account.
