In short: Acronis Cyber Frame is Acronis's infrastructure platform for running virtual machines with protection built in. Cyber Frame Cloud runs workloads in Acronis regional data centres; Cyber Frame Local runs on a provider-hosted cluster or a single server at your site. Backup, disaster recovery, EDR and RMM come through preinstalled Acronis agents, billed monthly.
What Acronis Cyber Frame is
Acronis Cyber Frame is the infrastructure layer of Acronis Cyber Platform (formerly Cyber Protect Cloud). It runs your virtual machines, either on infrastructure hosted by Acronis or on hardware at a provider data centre or your own premises, with Acronis protection installed on every workload from the start.
Most organisations buy servers or cloud capacity from one supplier, then add backup, disaster recovery, security and monitoring from several others. Cyber Frame puts them together. Acronis builds it with Virtuozzo on optimised OpenStack and the KVM hypervisor, offers OpenStack-compatible APIs for automation, and manages it from the same console as the rest of your Acronis services.
Cyber Frame Cloud and Cyber Frame Local compared
| Cyber Frame Cloud | Cyber Frame Local (data centre) | Cyber Frame Local (edge) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where workloads run | Acronis-hosted shared infrastructure in Acronis regional data centres | A provider-hosted shared cluster in a provider data centre or colocation facility | Usually a single server at your premises |
| Hardware | None to deploy | Three or more nodes, five or more for high availability | One compatible server |
| Typical use | Hosted servers without capital spend | Servers run for you on a provider's private infrastructure | Branch offices and sites that need servers on site |
The right choice depends on where your users are, how much your applications depend on local speed, and whether you want to own any hardware at all. We confirm the data centre region before you commit if data location matters to you.

| Monitoring and management | RMM through the same agents |

How Acronis Cyber Frame is licensed
Cyber Frame is licensed as Cyber Frame Cloud or Cyber Frame Local, and both are billed monthly. Acronis prices Cyber Frame through its pricing calculator rather than a public list, and the protection services on each workload, such as backup storage, disaster recovery or EDR, follow the normal Acronis licensing rules.
Because costs follow the resources your servers use, right-sizing matters: we size each server from its real usage rather than copying the old specification. Ask us for a quote and we will model Cloud, Local or a mix against your current servers. If your servers run Windows Server or other Microsoft software, the Microsoft licences are covered by Forever Group's Microsoft licensing team.
Who it suits
Cyber Frame suits organisations that still need servers but no longer want to own a server room: firms with a line-of-business application that cannot move to SaaS, schools and trusts with on-site systems, and businesses facing a VMware renewal they would rather not sign. Edge deployments suit multi-site organisations, such as manufacturers or retailers, where each site needs a local server.
If you only need to protect existing servers rather than move them, start with Acronis Cyber Platform and Disaster Recovery instead.
How we help
We assess your current servers, recommend Cloud, Local or a hybrid, size the virtual machines, migrate the workloads and set up backup, recovery and monitoring policies. After go-live we look after capacity, licence changes and test recoveries, all on one monthly invoice. Compare other options in disaster recovery software.

Contact usFrequently asked questions
What is Acronis Cyber Frame?
An infrastructure platform from Acronis that runs virtual machines in Acronis data centres, on a provider-hosted cluster or on a server at your site, with backup, disaster recovery, security and RMM delivered through preinstalled Acronis agents.
What is the difference between Cyber Frame Cloud and Cyber Frame Local?
Cyber Frame Cloud runs your virtual machines on Acronis-hosted infrastructure in Acronis regional data centres, with no hardware to deploy. Cyber Frame Local runs on a provider-hosted cluster of three or more nodes, or on a single compatible server at your premises.
Can Acronis Cyber Frame replace VMware?
For many workloads, yes. Cyber Frame is built on OpenStack and KVM, and Acronis provides a guided migration wizard for supported VMware workloads. We test each server's compatibility before planning a move.
Is backup included with Cyber Frame?
Workloads get preinstalled Acronis agents for backup, disaster recovery, anti-malware, EDR and RMM. Backup storage and optional services are licensed in the usual Acronis way, and we include them in your quote.
