What Acronis DLP is
Data loss prevention stops sensitive information leaving your organisation through the wrong route: a spreadsheet of customer details copied to a USB stick, a payroll file uploaded to a personal cloud account, or patient data pasted into a chat app. Traditional DLP tools fail in small organisations because someone has to write and maintain hundreds of rules.
Acronis DLP takes a different approach. It runs on the Acronis Cyber Platform (formerly Cyber Protect Cloud) agent, watches how data actually flows for a period, and builds the policy from what it sees. Your managers then review the result in plain business terms before anything is blocked.
How it works
- Observation: DLP agents run in observation mode, monitor outgoing transfers of sensitive data and build a baseline policy automatically. Users can optionally be asked to justify risky transfers. Acronis suggests allowing one to two months, depending on how many data flows you have.
- Review: the generated policy is shown visually, so a non-technical owner can confirm which flows are legitimate.
- Enforcement: choose strict enforcement, which blocks any flow not already approved, or adaptive enforcement, which keeps new flows from being blocked and lets users help extend the policy for genuine new needs.
- Reporting: central audit logs, alerts and dashboard widgets show blocked transfers, the most active senders of sensitive data and transfers that were allowed or justified.

Acronis GenAI Protection
Staff pasting customer records or source code into public AI chat tools is an easy way for data to leak. Acronis GenAI Protection is a companion service, natively integrated in Acronis Cyber Platform, that:
- discovers and monitors browser-based generative AI tools, so you can see which ones people use and where the risk sits;
- inspects prompts for sensitive content and blocks unauthorised submissions to public or unsanctioned AI services;
- blocks unwanted AI services through URL filtering in Acronis EDR or XDR;
- blocks malicious prompt techniques such as prompt injection.
GenAI Protection is licensed separately from DLP and managed from the same console.
