In short: Acronis RMM is remote monitoring and management on the Acronis Cyber Platform agent. It patches Microsoft products and third-party Windows applications, monitors devices, runs scripts, deploys software, keeps an asset inventory and gives remote access to Windows, macOS and Linux devices. It is available with service-based or solution-based licensing, billed monthly.
What Acronis RMM is
Remote monitoring and management (RMM) is the toolkit IT teams use to keep devices patched, healthy and supportable without visiting them. Acronis RMM is built into Acronis Cyber Platform (formerly Cyber Protect Cloud), so it uses the same agent as backup and security and works from the same console.
That shared agent matters most for patching. Acronis can take a backup of a device immediately before a selected patch is applied, so if an update breaks something you can roll back in minutes. Unpatched software is also one of the commonest ways in for attackers, and patching within set timescales is a Cyber Essentials requirement.
What is included
| Capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Patch management | Vulnerability assessment and automated updates for Microsoft products and a large catalogue of third-party Windows applications |
| Patch stability scoring | AI-based scoring that flags updates more likely to cause problems |
| Fail-safe patching | A backup can be taken before selected patches are applied, so you can roll back |
| Monitoring | Threshold-based and machine-learning monitoring for anomalies and selected hardware failure risks |
| Scripting | Generate, review and run scripts with AI assistance, and trigger response actions when alerts occur |
| Software deployment | DeployPilot generates deployment commands and checks packages with digital signature validation and anti-malware scans |
| Remote access | Connect through Acronis's NEAR protocol, RDP, Apple Screen Sharing or Quick Assist |
| Asset inventory | Hardware, installed software and device location in one console |
| Device discovery | Device Sense finds managed and unmanaged devices across each network |
| Microsoft 365 management | Security posture monitoring, user management and remediation of selected baseline deviations across Microsoft 365 |
How it is licensed
Acronis RMM is available through Acronis Cyber Platform with two kinds of licensing:
| Option | What it means |
|---|---|
| Service-based | Acronis RMM licensed on its own for the devices you manage |
| Solution-based | RMM bundled with other Acronis services, such as security, for each workload |
Both are billed monthly on usage through Forever Systems. Bundling RMM with security can be simpler than licensing management and protection separately, especially if you want EDR or XDR too. Ask us for a quote with your device numbers and we will compare the options.
Requirements and deployment
Acronis RMM supports management across Windows, macOS and Linux, although feature availability varies by operating system and workload; third-party application patching, for example, covers Windows applications. RMM uses the same agent as Acronis backup and security, so devices already protected by Acronis need nothing new installed.
We start by running a vulnerability assessment to see where you stand, agree patch rings (a pilot group first, then everyone), set maintenance windows that suit your working hours, and configure the monitoring alerts you actually want to receive.
Who it suits
Organisations with an in-house IT person or small team who need professional-grade patching and remote support without buying a separate RMM product. It also suits businesses already using Acronis for backup that want to retire an older patching tool. Teams already using Microsoft Intune for device management can still use Acronis RMM for third-party patching and fail-safe rollback. Compare other tools in secure remote access.
How we help
We deploy the agent, set up patch policies and monitoring, and can take on patching and alert handling for you as part of a managed service. For mobile devices, Forever Group also offers mobile device management.
